Saturday Silliness

Today is such a good day. Because it's SATURDAY. No work, sleeping in, no plans. Ahhh - can you say detox =)

I was browsing around old files and stumbled across this gem. We captured this video before we tied the knot and, as you can see, we would find (and still do) any excuse to laugh.

We're mature. We know. =)

Have a great weekend!

It's Friday, Friday!

Happy Friday!

I think every Friday, without fail, I sing that super catchy (yet super annoying song) by Rebecca Black. If you don't know which song I am talking about it can only mean one of two things. One: you have been living in a cave or two: you just don't listen to crappy music. EITHER WAY - I just can't help but sing this song on Friday! I will literally rise out of bed Friday morning singing this song.  The best part is when it gets stuck in Cory's head because I just refuse to shut up =) Simply, Esther being happy + a catchy song talking about Friday = Esther singing catchy song about Friday.

Anyways - moving along! I knew today was going to be a good day as soon as I came out to the kitchen to get my breakfast this morning...

It is not uncommon that I find little love notes sitting in different spots around our apartment from my honey. He is super thoughtful that way and I love it more and more each time I receive one. This morning I found medical tape stuck above my stove with this adorable message:

"Your body so hot its like the steam from your coffee! HOT!!! "

Seriously. How can your morning not start off right when you find something like that?! I am pretty sure this will have to stay a permanent fixture on my oven-top. He is just the best!

After a long work day, Cory and I finally made our way out to the gym around 8(ish). He busted out a Spartan workout like a bad mama-jama
while I opted for the treadmill. My workout today was UH-mase-ing. Just a great way to finish off the week.

1. Jog for 2.0 miles (speed starting at 6.5 - increase .1 mile increments every minute)
2. Run @ 7.0 MPH w/ 13.5% incline for 45 seconds
3. Walk @ 4.0 mph for 1.5 minutes
4. Repeat #2-3 10 X's

If you are really feeling like a BA, add on 2 mile "cool-down". I didn't today for time's sake, but I am definitely going to do this workout again and will attempt that last 2.0 miles.

Working hard regardless of the time! Do work peeps =)

Post work out and STILL smiles. Thank you endorphins!
As we were leaving the gym, I peeked out the window and noticed a great photo opp on the deck. It was raining and their night accent lights were turned on. Oh, it was so pretty! Don't you just love summer nights?

Wonderful Weekend

Oh this weekend really has been super terrific. I definitely vote that there should be one more day implemented into the weekend because if goes by entirely too fast. Two days is just not enough time to fit in all the fun to be had!

Friday night Cory and I decided to have a "date night". We haven't been out on a date since our honeymoon! It was definitely way overdue. We went to Crazy Tomato and we both ordered meat stromboli's (super yum) and it probably had two days worth of my allotted calories (oops?). Oh well - so worth it. Then we hopped over to our local theater to watch Despicable Me 2.

Truly. Is there anything funnier than those yellow minions? Hy-ster-i-cal. Cory and I had no shame in the fact that we were laughing 10 x's harder and louder than any child in that theater. Simply stated, we are children at heart forever. But seriously. Every person should watch that movie. So good. So funny. It was absolutely what I needed after a long work week.

Pic right before our date. Such goobs.

Sunday Funday Workout

On to my workout for today! So I am really excited. I have rediscovered my love for running. Why, oh WHY, have I let my running shoes get cobwebs? Running is what developed my love for fitness. Then I discovered Jillian Michaels, lifting, P90X, CrossFit, Insanity and so on. Don't get me wrong. I love(d) all those other fitness regimens, but there nothing quite like getting that runners high. Whew. Feels great =)

Today I did a circuit on the treadmill. I was really intimidated when I first saw it and definitely doubted I would make it through the work-out. The workout was:

0:00-10:00: 6.5 mph
0.50 miles: 8.0 mph
3 minutes recovery

Repeat 0.50 mile run + recovery 4 x's

I ended up running about 4 miles in 38 minutes with a cool down. Holy Shmoley! This was a butt-kicker for sure. Surprisingly, I jumped off the treadmill feeling really energerized, so I finished up the last round of Cory's spartan workout with him. Definitely a great day's work in the gym. Looking forward to getting after it again tomorrow!

Total Body Circuit

Summer time! My favorite!

Today's workout was killer. I got the workout from this new blog I have been reading lately called: carrotsncake. She is an avid runner but also likes Crossfit, lifting, and work in circuit training. Yes! My kind of girl :) I get so many different ideas from her blog and it gives me motivation to get to the gym - bonus!

The workout I did today was a total body circuit. I started it off with a run on the treadmill called The Pyramid. It went something like this:

0:00-1:00: 6.5 mph @ 1.0% incline
1:00-3:00: 6.6 mph @ 2.0% incline
3:00-6:00: 6.7 mph @ 3.0% incline
6:00-10:00: 6.8 mph @ 4.0% incline
10:00-15:00: 6.9 mph @ 5.0% incline
15:00-19:00: 6.8 mph @ 4.0% incline
19:00-22:00: 6.7 mph @ 3.0% incline
22:00-24:00: 6.6 mph @ 2.0% incline
24:00-25:00: 6.5 mph @ 1.0% incline

Wowzers! This workout seriously kicked my butt. I have to be honest - I jumped on the side of the treadmill  towards the end of make sure my lungs weren't coming up my throat. OK, I probably shouldn't admit that. Next month will be better =)

After my run I went straight into strength training. Here is the lay-out of my circuit:

1. Leg Press: 15 R (3 Sets)
2. Single Leg Press: 15 R (3 Sets)
3. Leg Extension: 10 R (3 sets)
4. Hamstring Curls: 10 R (3 Sets)
5. Chest Press: 8 R (3 Sets)
6. Bicep Curl to Overhead Press: 12 R (3 sets)
7. Pull Ups: 10 R (2 sets)

I am telling you what, today was supposed to be my day off or "easy" workout day. Pff. Yeah right! Loved it though. Can't wait to get back at it again tomorrow! Until next time.
